    Description

Originally from Créteil, French pianist Simon Denizart arrived in Montreal in 2011 and wasted no time in making his jazz colours heard. Infused with European jazz and world music, Simon Denizart plays soft, sensitive and energizing music, sprinkled with subtle and accessible melodies. His new project Nomad, was born from the idea of creating, by superimposing several layers of piano, different and more electronic sounds without ever betraying its acoustic source. Thus the listener travels according to the rich and eclectic textures produced by the piano. So we sometimes hear plucked strings imitating a bass or a guitar, chords treated with different effects producing symphonic sounds or rock and electronic sounds thanks to distortions and "delay" used to highlight the melodies. Accompanied by virtuoso percussionist Elli Miller Maboungou, they form an original and dynamic duo that pushes the boundaries of traditional instrumental aesthetics. Just like our society, it is a mixed jazz, open to multi-culturalism, connected to contemporary creations and turned to new technologies while maintaining an acoustic sound source. Their new album Nomad will be out in February 2021. Favorite.
